An Italian holiday with and eco-friendly villa

August 26th, 2011

What fun it is to travel the world. You get the adventure of meeting new challenges, the relaxation of enjoying a bit of luxury on vacation and we expand our minds and broaden our horizons by meeting new people and cultures. Competition between hotels, the low cost of airline tickets and more spending money all make planning the perfect holiday easy and cheap. But there is a downside, its killing the planet.  Rising emissions and destroyed locations mean that future generations will not enjoy these spaces and certainly not the holiday experiences that they come with. So more and more we are seeing the increasing popularity of eco-tourism. Italy is leading the way in offering low cost and environmentally friendly vacations and apartment rentals.

Your eco-friendly Italian vacation

Due to Italy’s geography, it offers excellent options for finding an environmentally sound vacation option. Ago-tourism is an excellent way to spend a vacation without ruining the environment. Called farmstays in Italy agro-tourism is  the practice of incorporating your holiday with some light farm work. Understandably, waking up in rustic villa surrounded by chickens does suit every vacation, but for those seeking a truly unique holiday experience, it is worth considering. If picking vegetables isn’t your idea of a luxury holiday, consider a vacation spent working on a vineyard.

Environmentally-friendly Italian rentals

Your accommodation during your Italian vacation can also be eco-friendly. Look for a villa rental that offers apartments built with recycled materials and include a chemical free pool. Rather than booking an apartment in a new high-rise building, I would be delighted to find a vacation villa that was built last century and restored to modern standards. The eco-tourism options are out there. Even if you are not concerned about the negative effects of travel, you can still have a unique, one-of a kind vacation experience by trying out environmentally conscious vacation options.
